LDV Wine Grape Varieties

General Wine Information   /   Feb 18th, 2021
It is time for a refresher regarding the four LDV wine varieties.

Viognier – LDV’s only white wine. Expect perfumed notes of peaches, apricots, apple blossom, and more recently pineapple. Loves warmth to ripen to balance its delicate, floral quality with rich texture.
Grenache – Our sun bunny. Spicy, red berry-flavored (raspberry and strawberry) and soft on the palate with a bit of subtle white pepper to finish.
Syrah – Full-bodied with nice acidity, moderate alcohol levels and firm tannins. Flavors range from smoke, bacon, herbs, red and black fruits, white and black pepper, with floral violet notes.
Petite Sirah – Deep rich flavors and aromas of blueberry, blackberry, chocolate, pepper and spice, and its high tannins and acidity make it great for pairing with rich meaty dishes and chocolate.
