December, 2014

LDV Winery

After a successful harvest this fall, all of the wines have completed fermentation and are in either stainless steel tanks or barrels. Looks like our 2014 production will be just a shade under 2,000 cases, similar to last year.

We bottled our 2013 Sky Island Viognier last month, our largest bottling ever at just under 400 cases, and are waiting for labels to be printed so we can release the wine.

Be looking for information about release events soon! Now our attention is turning to getting the rest of our 2012 red wines bottled, labeled, and released.

We are finalizing the blend for the 2012 Grenache and looking forward to bottling our first 100% estate grown and produced 2012 Syrah, quite a milestone!

The 2012 Petite Sirah juice in barrels is being evaluated to determine if we are going to bottle a Sky Island version (un-oaked), a gold label 2012 vintage version, and/or a 2012 “The Signature.” Decisions will be made very soon!

We are also evaluating our 2012 Petite Sirah dessert wine that is going to be called “The Epilogue” (great books and great meals need something to tie them together at the end!). This will be placed in half bottles (375 ml) and we are looking at bottle styles and colors now.

Finally, we are examining our 2013 barrel fermented and aged Viognier to determine if it might be getting close to bottling. Guessing this wine should be out late spring.
