Making People Feel Welcomed

Jun 3rd, 2020
As we finally reopen our LDV Winery tasting room, our attention turns to LDV’s approach to “making guests feel welcome.” Since we entertain all the time, here are our 5 tips you can apply when you are hosting your guests for dinner or summertime BBQ. The first rule is to remember that the focus should be on your guests and not you. When your focus shifts to creating an atmosphere for your guests to feel welcome and have fun, the attention is away from you. But like anything, it takes a little pre-planning.

So here are 5 simple tips to make celebrating easy.
  1. Everyone should have a special meal they are known for and make well.
  2. Take the time to set the table for your guests. This does not have to be expensive, but it shows you care.
  3. Create a special atmosphere. The tip here is to use what you have available to you to let your personality come through. Use mason jars filled with layers of dried beans with a votive or frozen cranberries or fruit sliced in water with a single branch or flowers cut from the yard as centerpieces.
  4. Use cloth napkins to reduce paper consumption. Just toss them in the laundry after use and it adds an elegant touch. But remember, you can mix-and-match things and they do not have to be expensive.
  5. Do not stress, just be prepared. Have fun and be creative, but make your guests’ comfort your priority.
So, look around your home for everyday items that can help you set a special dinner table. Then invite some friends over and make them your signature meal. This is how you create memories for you and those you cherish.
