Making Memories

Apr 26th, 2022
When reflecting on life, the memories that produce smiles are based on experiences and not things owned. Sometimes these memories are simple like sitting on the roof of a friend’s house watching fireworks or big like my dad walking me down the aisle at my wedding to the song he named me after “Peg of My Heart.”

Every day is an opportunity to create a memory. Even from the worst of times, a beautiful memory can be created. Our style is focused on creating memorable experiences. Here are three tips that create memories or experiences you will never regret.
  1. Put the other person(s) first. Think about their needs or desires when planning an event. When inviting someone to dinner, always ask about their food limitations. I love salmon and lamb but not everyone does so I do not want to serve that just because I am in the mood.
  2. Keep it simple. Some of the most incredible memories seem to happen by accident. However, it is my experience that some forethought occurred to set the stage to allow experiences to unfold. Try being open and allowing the moments to evolve without creating too much structure. For example, think about how you seat people around the table at your next dinner party and see how the conversation develops. Sometimes planning every detail, leads to a predictable outcome that is not always memorable.
  3. Enjoy the unexpected. Nothing goes according to plan. As many know, creating a winery was never on our bucket list. Having grapes to continue the family tradition was unexpected and has led us places we could never have planned. Be open to unexpected life curveballs.
Enjoy each day. Let your life and those you touch be a “connect the dots” game of incredible experiences and memories.
