Springtime Activities Abound

The vineyard is starting to awaken with the first signs of bud break occurring in the Viognier block.

White wine grapes typically wake up earlier than our red grapes. The cherry, apple, and pear trees are full of blossoms and the almond pods are forming.

In honor of her birthday (March 27), the Betty Lawrence Dunham memorial rose garden is bursting with rosebuds.

Activity in the LDV winery is also quite frantic as we are testing and readying wine for bottling. We need to make space for the impending 2016 harvest that will start in August. We are getting ready to release several new wines – 2014 Viognier, 2013 Syrah, and our first dessert wine, 2012 The Epilogue (100% LDV Petite Sarah aged for 40 months in new American and neutral oak barrels). The wine labels are in the process of being approved by the federal government before heading to the printer. Hopefully, in May these wines will be released to Sky Islander Wine Club members. In Scottsdale at the LDV Wine Gallery, visitors have come from across the country for baseball, incredible weather, and now wine tasting. Special corporate outings and wedding-related events are filling the Wine Gallery’s calendar.   LDV Winery

Downtown Scottsdale is becoming a wine tasting destination with our 5th tasting room opening soon in addition to the restaurants and wine bars carrying Arizona wines.

Springtime also brings wonderful produce from the gardens and our entertaining shifts as spring vegetables fill the markets. Our Vineyard to Table series has been a celebration of local foods and the Chefs have put forth fabulous experiences. A few seats are available for April 11th when Chef Joshua Hebert from the critically-acclaimed Posh Restaurant will weave his magic at the Wine Gallery.
