Curt in the Dirt - Winery Updates Back to Curt in the Dirt

September, 2016

With harvest underway, we are not doing a lot in the vineyard besides sugar and pH testing and monitoring signs of bunch rot or mold.

We are mowing weekly to make sure that the ground cover between rows is kept down to ease harvesting and to keep pests at bay. Everything we have done in the vineyard since the first of the year has been to improve fruit quality.

When the last grapes have been harvested, we will be applying a nutrient mix to give the plants a last shot of vigor to support root development before they go dormant in November.

Yields are down a bit so far this year but this was anticipated due to our winter pruning approach.
