Curt in the Dirt - Winery Updates Back to Curt in the Dirt

February, 2018

This month pruning has begun in the vineyard. Pruning is one of the most important aspects of vineyard management to ensure quality vine growth and optimum crop yields. We will start with a crew training session to go over our strategy for this year and make sure everyone is on the same page. Each of the 12,000 vines is individually tended to and this process will take several weeks to complete.

After taking the month of January off, we have started irrigating the vineyard again. The vines are dormant and don’t require much water right now, but we want to get ahead of the curve and pre-hydrate the soils to prepare for the warmer months to come. It has also been an unusually dry winter with little rain and no snow.
